What has been completed so far…
From 1995 on, 2 patrons accepted to finance the timber framework, the thatched roof, the doors, windows and wooden floors. The society also funded part of the restoration of the dyke while another patron paid for the outside stairs.

In 1997, the sluice-system (the lock gates keeping the water inside the sea-pond, and the spade-like hatch) and, most importantly, the wheel and cog, were re-installed. The financing was partly ensured by generous private investors paying for individual wheel paddles (each of them with their personal initials carved in the wood). All the wood work was done by Gilles MORIO, a professional carpenter specialised in mills.

There is still a lot to be done !
The pair of grindstones bought in 1998 remain to be installed. Prior to that, the stonework of their props will have to be consolidated and the vertical axle designed and fitted.
We are firmly committed to keeping our promise of cooking pancakes with the flour from Birlot by the year 2000 !

The preferred luding-place of owls !
At the beginning of each summer a nauseating smell comes from the inside walls of the mill.
Actually it's due to nothing but the leftovers of the mill-tenants : barn-owls that regularly nest in a recess of the mill-wall...
